Owning a home means there is always maintenance to do! While every home is different, there are commonalities that each home shares. Here is your basic spring checklist. Personalize it as you need and please provide any feedback!

🌼 Spring Home Maintenance Checklist
🔧 Outdoor Maintenance
- Inspect the roof for missing, curling, or damaged shingles.
- Check gutters and downspouts for debris; clean and ensure proper drainage.
- Look for exterior damage (siding, paint, brick, foundation cracks).
- Wash windows and screens; repair or replace damaged screens.
- Inspect driveway and walkways for cracks; schedule repairs as needed.
- Clean and prepare outdoor furniture.
- Service lawn equipment (mower blade sharpening, oil change).
- Check irrigation systems for leaks or broken sprinkler heads.
- Trim trees and shrubs away from the house and power lines.
🌡 HVAC & Utility Systems
- Schedule HVAC service for air conditioning tune-up.
- Replace HVAC filters (or clean reusable filters).
- Inspect attic and basement for moisture or mold.
- Check water heater for leaks; flush tank if needed.
- Test sump pump before spring rains.
🏠 Indoor Maintenance
- Test smoke & carbon monoxide detectors; replace batteries.
- Deep clean kitchen appliances (oven, fridge coils, dishwasher).
- Inspect caulking and grout in bathrooms and kitchens; repair if cracked.
- Clean or replace dryer vent hose to prevent fire hazards.
- Reverse ceiling fan direction to counterclockwise for cooling.
- Clean windows, blinds, and curtains.
🔐 Safety & Structural Checks
- Inspect chimney (if used over winter) for creosote buildup or wildlife nests.
- Check handrails, stairs, and railings for looseness.
- Examine deck or porch for rot, loose boards, or popped nails.
- Inspect foundation inside and out for cracks.

- Clean garden beds and remove debris.
- Fertilize lawn and reseed damaged patches.
- Check for pests like termites or carpenter ants.
- Set up rain barrels if you use them for irrigation.
